The Global Risk and Stabilization Summit 2026 convenes leaders working to understand and manage environmental risks that drive large-scale economic disruption and cascading losses.

Extreme sea-level rise, major atmospheric and oceanic current destabilization, and ecosystem tipping points are not isolated hazards; they are potential catalysts for cascading shocks across markets, supply chains, infrastructure, and (re)insurance portfolios. These risks represent a rapidly evolving frontier in tail-risk modeling, correlated losses, and hidden systemic exposure.

The Global Risk and Stabilization Summit 2026

Organized by the Climate Emergencies Forum, the Global Risk and Stabilization Summit 2026 is a global working convening designed to advance institutional understanding of and preparedness for catastrophic, nonlinear risks across Earth’s climate and the cascading impacts they could cause across economic, geopolitical, and other societal systems. It brings together scientists, financial institutions, Indigenous leaders, youth networks, Global South organizations, funders, and policymakers — actors who rarely share the same room — to align on how to anticipate, govern, and prepare for these risks before crises unfold.

Renaissance Philanthropy and ARC will host the summit on October 12–13, 2026 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

The summit’s core objectives

1. Establish a shared global framing for systemic risks. Develop a coherent, high-resolution understanding of catastrophic climate risks and all the other systems they will impact that integrates science, governance, finance, and lived experience.

2. Translate risk into decision-relevant pathways. Clarify what decisions will need to be made, who's responsible for them, and what readiness looks like across research, governance, and finance.

3. Enable coordination across institutions. Create structured interfaces between philanthropic, public, scientific, and community actors to reduce silos and duplication.

Travel support

To support diverse participation, travel funding and compensation are available for Indigenous, youth, and Global South leaders, as well as others who may face barriers to covering travel costs to attend the CEF Summit.
